Mark your calendars—something magical is rolling into Airdrie this December, bringing festive lights, live music, and a chance to celebrate the season together. Don’t miss out on this beloved tradition that promises an unforgettable evening at Nose Creek Park.

The beloved Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train will light up Airdrie on Friday, December 13 from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Nose Creek Park on Main Street, featuring live performances from Magic! and Sofia Camara.

The Holiday Train, an annual tradition since 1999, travels across Canada and the United States, collecting donations to combat food insecurity and bringing communities together in the spirit of the season. This year, it will travel through seven provinces and 13 states, with 167 live music shows planned.

Christine Taylor, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Airdrie Food Bank, shared her excitement about the Holiday Train’s return to Airdrie.

"At the Airdrie Food Bank, we are thrilled to welcome the CPKC Holiday Train back to our community. This event brings families and neighbours together in the true spirit of the season, all while supporting the vital work of local food banks. We deeply appreciate CPKC's ongoing commitment to helping us ensure that no one in Airdrie goes hungry, especially during the holidays. It’s a heartwarming tradition that not only spreads joy but also gives back in a meaningful way."

CPKC’s leadership also shared their enthusiasm for the event. CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel expressed his excitement for this year’s program, saying, "The Holiday Train unites people in the spirit of the season as it travels across Canada and the United States while generating critical support for our neighbours in need through the program’s support of local food banks."

He added that the company is pleased to again send this magical train on a four-week trip across the network. The train will spread holiday joy as it collects food and raises money to fight food insecurity.

"We look forward to again seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving."

Since its inception, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised more than $24.3 million and collected over 5.3 million pounds of food, all of which support community food banks across North America. This year’s lineup includes performances by artists such as James Barker Band, Clerel, Tyler Shaw, Shawnee Kish, KT Tunstall, and many more.

CPKC encourages attendees to bring a monetary or heart-healthy food donation to help local food banks provide for those in need. All events are free, and food bank representatives will collect donations at each stop.

Residents are encouraged to attend the Airdrie stop and bring non-perishable items to support local families this holiday season. The train will also stop in Calgary on Saturday, December 14 from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.

Other local stops include Olds (50 Street) on December 13 from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. and Didsbury (20 Street & 18 Avenue) on December 13 from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m.
