When melancholic construction worker Dan finds himself drifting from his wife and daughter, he discovers community and purpose in a local theatre’s production of Romeo and Juliet. As the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life, he and his family are forced to confront a personal loss.

GHOSTLIGHT, a darling of the Sundance Film Festival, is showing for one night only at the Cochrane Movie House on Wed. Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

Advance tickets are now available at the Cochrane Movie House box office or online. Some tickets may be available at the door.

It's being brought to Cochrane by the Chinook Film Group, which has been presenting independent and alternate films for 20 years.

Murray Mitchell, who leads the group, says it's a moving film about how that moment completely changed the life of the man and his family.

"It's just one of those movies that kind of lurks around the perimeter," says Mitchell. "Then all of a sudden you see it and say, wow, why haven't I heard about this before."

It stars Keith Kupferer, Dolly de Leon, Katherine May Kupferer, Tara Mallen, Hana Dworkin, Tommy Rivera-Vega, Alma Washington, H.B. Ward, Dexter Zollicoffer, Deanna Dunagan and Francis Guinan. An interesting note is how Kupferer, the lead character, and his real-life wife and daughter were selected to play the family that the story is centred around.

Watch for more news on Chinook's 20th anniversary celebration in November.
