With the Thanksgiving weekend upon us, many Manitobans are rushing around grocery stores planning for dinners with family and friends.

For others, Thanksgiving can be a lonely time. To lighten the spirits of those who don't have plans, who are new to Winnipeg or who are here for school, a few events have been planned.

Friendsgiving Bash (Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.)

Friendsgiving Bash is a special night for students who are feeling homesick or don't have plans. Cities Church has planned a special night packed with delicious food, fun conversations, and a warm welcoming community.

They will serve family-style bowls and tacos, with all the festive flavours and a few unique twists.

This free event will kick off at Cities Church at 546 Portage Avenue on Monday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.

Those interested in attending are encouraged to register here.

Friendsgiving Potluck & Student Day of Prayer (Friday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m.)

The InterVarsity Undergraduate at the University of Winnipeg will host a Friendsgiving Potluck and Student Prayer Day event on Friday, Oct. 18.

The day will feature games, prayer and a potluck dinner.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

The event will take place at 1184 Garfield Street N. on Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m.

Drive-In Thanksgiving meal (Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.)

Grant Memorial Church has planned a special Thanksgiving dinner for their Drive-In guests on Thursday, Oct. 24. The free dinner will be served at 5 p.m.
