It's Throwback Thursday - just a minute to remember the good ol' days.
Every year at this time of year, I clearly remember what I was doing in 1985.
It was mid-October when I got my first job in radio at 1050 CJNB - North Battleford.
I had just turned 20 and I got dropped off at a motel with two heavy hockey bags. One was full of clothing, shoes and toiletries while the other was packed with food, cutlery and an old electric frying pan.
My best friend and I took my dad's brand-new Buick up there and he drove it back home to Moose Jaw.
There I was, all by myself for the first time in my life. I was anxious and full of trepidation.
I told my dad I was scared before I left home. He told me I'd be okay and talked about how scared he was when he joined the RCAF on his 18th birthday in 1942 during World War II.
He was right. I was okay. The next 10 months weren't easy but I got through it and here I am, 39 years later, still doing what I like to do.
And you know, I still have those two, old hockey bags.
