The Cochrane and Area Humane Society has seen a major influx of surrendered animals over the past week.
Over 80 animals in just 7 days.
“It’s been an interesting week,” says Tiffany Beaton, communications coordinator for the Humane Society. “Not only have we been getting in a lot of animals, but there have also been a lot of litters of kittens, with and without moms, as well as some medical cases.”
“We had almost 50 cats brought to us, and I believe about 29 dogs, totalling up to 82 animals in the last week alone.”
With the sudden rush of new entries, the Humane Society is now home to 258 animals.
“We are in desperate need of fosters. If you could foster litters of puppies, an injured dog, or one that’s a little bit more timid—if that’s your speciality—we definitely need some help moving some of these animals out of the shelter.”
Become a Foster Home
There is no minimum time commitment for foster homes. Beaton says even taking animals for the Thanksgiving long weekend would be a great help.
In addition to foster homes, the shelter is also seeking donations of non-clumping cat litter, kitten formula, wet puppy food, and wet kitten food.
