The Estevan Arts Council is set to launch its 2024/2025 Concert Series with a performance by The Wardens on October 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Wardens, a Rocky Mountain-based trio, blend folk, roots, and western music with stories from their years as national park wardens in Alberta and British Columbia.
“The Wardens are actual wardens that work in our parks in BC and Alberta... and they have many stories to tell,” said Wilma Mantei, past president of the Estevan Arts Council. Known for their authentic storytelling and haunting three-part harmonies, the group brings tales of wildlife, wilderness, and park life to the stage. “To top it all off, they have this huge screen behind them that shows all the pictures of the beautiful parks and their rescues,” Mantei added, describing the multimedia experience that accompanies their performance.
Tickets for the concert are available at Henders for $35 in advance or at the door for $40. Additionally, the full concert series including 7 concerts is still available for $210. Mantei noted that last year's weather challenges have been addressed, with no concerts scheduled for December, January, or February. "Let’s hope the weather stays really good this year,” she said.
