Jeremy Giraudier, Cory Bond, and Steven Mercer have been buying lottery tickets twice a week; this time, their luck paid off a big deal.

"I scanned it at the store," Giraudier said. "I was excited and called everyone over to tell them."

He then reached out to his neighbours in a creative way.

"We live in the same cul-de-sac, so I called Steve and Cory and said I needed help with something and to come over," Giraudier chuckled. "That’s when I told them."

The news caught Bond by surprise. "I asked, ‘How many zeroes!?’" he laughed.

The trio is already planning how to enjoy their windfall. Giraudier intends to finish his basement renovation, while Bond plans a family vacation to Mexico.

Mercer also plans a trip to Mexico, saying, "But for my girlfriend’s birthday—it’s a big one coming up!"

The winning ticket was purchased at the Chevron McKnight at 4808 12 Street Northeast in Calgary.

The lucky win came from matching the last six out of seven digits in the EXTRA selection on the September 11 draw: 5051038.
