The Cochrane Cobras are in for some stiffer competition after advancing to the semifinals of the RVS divisional playoffs.

Last night, the Cobras cruised to a 5-1 win over the W. H. Croxford Cavaliers on the Ranger pitch in quarterfinal play.

That paved the way to Tuesday's (Oct. 15) game at the Park for All Seasons in Springbank against the powerhouse Phoenix squad.

The Phoenix were undefeated in the regular season and beat the Cobras 8-0 in their regular season matchup. The two teams have a rivalry that goes back years, and the scale has tipped back-and-forth.

The George McDougall Mustangs defeated the Bow Valley Bobcats, 5-2, in the other quarterfinal match. The Mustangs go on to face the Bert Church Chargers, who had a 3-1-1 regular season.

The championship game will be played on Airdrie's Monklands Fields on Oct. 17.
