Southern Alberta is in for an increasingly warm long weekend.

Foothills County has been enjoying daytime highs slightly above the norm for this time of year, and it looks like they won't be dipping down just yet.

Environment & Climate Change Canada Meteorologist Christy Climenhaga says the Thanksgiving long weekend will see the temperature slowly ramp up to well above the brisk conditions one would typically expect during fall.

"What we're seeing is toward the end of the work week is more seasonal, temperatures should be about 12 degrees for a daily high and about -1 for a daily low. So we're still a couple of degrees above that, but then another warmup is on the way, to does look like we'll have some unseasonably warm weather for this Thanksgiving long weekend."

As for the stronger wind gusts we've seen over the last few weeks, they're unlikely to make a return.

"We've had a few what we call 'Alberta clipper' systems rolling through, bringing those really strong winds. Looks like it'll be pretty quiet. Over the weekend we're going to be seeing that upper ridge building in that really keeps our weather pretty quiet and helps that heat build in as well, I wouldn't expect too much... It doesn't look like there's anything throwing up red flags at this point."
