Some Airdrie residents can expect extra cash in their bank accounts as the Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) payment arrives today. This is the final payment for this benefit in 2024.

This rebate, formerly known as the Climate Action Incentive Payment, aims to offset federal pollution pricing costs. Residents are reminded to wait 10 working days from the payment date before contacting the CRA with any payment inquiries. Alberta’s quarterly CCR base is $225 for individuals, with an additional rural supplement of $45.
Although the government is increasing the rural supplement from 10 per cent to 20 per cent, this change will not affect Airdrie residents, as the city is part of the Calgary Metropolitan Area (CMA), which is excluded.
Other nearby areas, such as Beiseker, Calgary, Chestermere, Cochrane, Crossfield, Irricana, Rocky View County, and Tsuu T'ina Nation 145, are also not eligible for the supplement. However, residents outside these areas may still qualify.
Who qualifies for the CCR?
To qualify, you must be a resident of Canada during the month before the payment and live in one of the eligible provinces at the start of the payment month. These provinces include Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.
You must also be at least 19 years old in the month before the payment is issued. However, if you are under 19, you may still qualify if you have or had a spouse or common-law partner or if you are or were a parent living with your child.
Parents with children under 19 who live with them must be registered for the CCR, the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), or the GST/HST credit to be included in the CCR calculation. You must complete the registration process to receive payments if they have not yet been registered.
Other important benefit payment dates this month
Alongside the CCR payment, the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) will be issued this month, with payments scheduled for October 18. The CRA administers this program on behalf of the Alberta provincial government and may include the child disability benefit and related provincial or territorial programs.
For shared custody situations, each parent receives 50 per cent of the amount they would receive with full custody, based on their family income.
CCB payments are recalculated every July based on the previous year’s income. From July 2024 to June 2025, costs are based on 2023 income. Maximum annual benefits are $7,787 ($648.91/month) for children under six and $6,570 ($547.50/month) for children aged six to 17.
Payments decrease gradually for families with an adjusted family net income (AFNI) over $36,502 and adjust when children have birthdays or turn 18.
