The Weyburn Rotary Club is getting set for their Pitmaster BBQ Night on Thursday, October 17th. Taking place at the Royal Canadian Legion #47 here in Weyburn from 7:00-9:00 p.m. featuring guest speaker Adam Mazer of Bud’s BBQ in Ogema, SK. A fantastic night with even better food, former president and member of the Weyburn Rotary Club, Doug Loden is excited to maybe learn a few tricks to upgrade his grilling game.

“The speaker is Adam Mazer of Bud’s BBQ from Ogema. He will be speaking about barbecuing and I'm looking forward to learning a few things from him and maybe one day I'll be able to do a better job of barbecuing than my son Brian, hasn’t happened yet.”

The event is held not only to talk and try some fantastic barbeque, but also raise awareness regarding the Weyburn Rotary Club and their vital role here in the community. For a great deal as well, Loden explains the cost and what the Rotary Club provides here in Weyburn.

“The cost is $5, paid at the door and you get some chicken wings and garlic bread. The Rotary (club) is a service club supporting local charities and international projects and we are looking for new people. It will be an interesting evening, and we hope you will be able to join us. No obligation to join Rotary, but you might find it a good club.”

The Rotary Club of Weyburn has been a long-standing service club here in the community for over 100 years. Dating back to 1920, the club has helped on projects locally as well as around the world. Loden explains the significance and importance that this club provides.

“I've been a member of Rotary for about 25 years and it's an interesting club, involved in supporting local projects and international projects. You know, working hard to eradicate Polio from the world is one of the major projects that we've been working on. I've been involved with working with international students. Finding host parents for them and taking the students on the exchange trip through the mountains, through the Rockies. So that's been a wonderful experience for them, and you know that's one of the highlights for me.”

If this sounds like an interesting club for you to join, check out the Pitmaster BBQ Night on Thursday. For more information about the club and the barbeque night, visit the Rotary Club’s Facebook page or their website
