The 2024 Airdrie Santa Claus Parade is set for Saturday, December 7, starting at 5 p.m. Float registration opened recently, inviting participants to join in the festive spirit by incorporating as many lights as possible, as the parade will begin at dusk.

The parade will start at Fletcher Park (6 Avenue Northwest) and head south on Main Street to Ridgegate Boulevard. Float staging begins at Fletcher Park at 4 p.m., and additional details will be provided upon registration confirmation.

Roads will close 30 minutes prior to the event and will remain closed for 30 minutes afterward to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Participants can register as either Commercial or Not-for-Profit (NFP) entities, with online payment options available. Only 40 entries will be accepted, so early registration is encouraged.

In addition to the parade, Airdrie residents can look forward to several other holiday events. On Sunday, December 1, the Sirens Charity Classic hockey game will feature first responders supporting the Airdrie 1st Club's Holiday Hamper Program.

Then, on Friday, December 13, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train will arrive at Nose Creek Park from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., bringing live performances from Magic! and Sofia Camara.

Christine Taylor, Marketing and Communications Manager at the Airdrie Food Bank, expressed her excitement about the Holiday Train's return.

"This event brings families and neighbours together in the true spirit of the season while supporting local food banks. We appreciate CPKC's commitment to ensuring no one in Airdrie goes hungry during the holidays."

Residents are encouraged to attend and bring non-perishable food items to support local families. The train will also stop in Calgary on December 14 and make additional stops in Olds and Didsbury on December 13.
