Two youths have been arrested in connection to a shooting last month in St. Boniface that seriously injured a man in his 30s.
Shortly after 11 a.m. on Sept. 1, 2024, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Aubert Street where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to serious but stable condition.
Investigators quickly identified two suspects they believed to be involved in the incident and on Sept. 11, arrested a 17-year-old boy.
On Sunday, Oct. 12 after applying for and being granted a warrant, officers located the second suspect, an 18-year-old man and arrested him.
Winnipeg police say their investigation revealed that the victims and the suspect became involved in an argument when they were standing on the balconies of their short-term rental units. The argument became heated. The suspects left their rental, covered their faces, went outside and shot at the victim who was still standing on his balcony.
The suspects and the victim were previously unknown to one another.
Both face a long list of charges and remain in custody.
