The Cochrane Public Library is hosting a special free event this Friday night to commemorate a landmark moment in Canadian history that paved the way for women’s rights.
“This Friday is the 95th anniversary of the Person's Case in Canada,” says Carmen Erison, the library’s Program and Engagement Manager. “It was where women were formally declared persons and were able to finally hold a seat in Senate.”
“We're going to be celebrating women entrepreneurs, and I am so excited that we have five really phenomenal speakers coming to the library.”
The Pink Tea with Trailblazers event will showcase local women from various backgrounds and experiences sharing their stories with the audience.

“Honestly, the whole goal of this event is just a real celebration that if you put your mind to it, it doesn't matter who you are, that you can do anything.”
The two-hour event begins at 7 p.m. and is free but pre-registration is appreciated to ensure there is enough tea, snacks and space for everyone.
The Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge will shine purple and pink on Friday evening to commemorate the anniversary.
