100 Kids Who Care is officially making a return to Airdrie this weekend.

Kelly Boudreau, the outgoing founder of 100 Kids Who Care Airdrie, explained what it is all about.

"We hope for 100 kids at each event. They each bring $10 to the meeting, and we meet three to four times per year. We encourage them to earn the money somehow, so it's not just given to them by their parents, but that they are involved in earning it. They can nominate local charities if they want to. Then the ones that nominate have the opportunity to speak about the charity, to show pictures, to talk about why they picked that charity and then all of the kids at the meeting will vote for which charity they want to give the hopefully $1,000."

She stated that 100 Kids Who Care is in the same realm to like 100 Men Who Give a Damn Airdrie and 100 Women Who Care Airdrie. Boudreau went on to talk about the event that is happening tomorrow.

"We're meeting at Lift Youth Fitness, 12:30 is registration, and 1 p.m. is the meeting. We'll be doing the speeches and the voting, and there'll be a little bit of physical activity for the kids that want to participate while we're counting the votes."

Snacks and drinks will be provided for kids with the event ending around 2:30 p.m. The three organizations the kids will hear about this time are Strong Like Sloane, Airdrie Christian Academy Youth Honduras missions trip and Mbuya's Love Basket.

"It's a great way for kids to learn about charitable giving, public speaking, presentations, voting, and how that all works."

Boudreau is running the organization with the help of Tara Pickford and Abe Mawoyo.

100 Kids Who Care started in 2016, was revived in 2019 before COVID shut it down, and now it is looking to make a difference in the community again.

She finished off by asking residents to register on the website beforehand if possible, if not, doing it at the meeting is fine.
