The search continues for a one-of-a-kind 1999 Honda Civic that was stolen in Calgary on Sunday.
Airdronians are being asked to be on the lookout as a multi-coloured vehicle that represents autism awareness was stolen.
Josh Mai, the owner of the vehicle, talked about the night it was taken from him.
"That day, we bought 700 pounds of pumpkins and were giving them out for free on my front lawn. Some people can't afford them with how expensive they are so we wanted to help out our community (Legacy). They all got taken within the hour and then that night the car was stolen."
Mai went on to talk about how it was seen in the Langdon area shortly after that.
"The guy went to Langdon first, he was also spotted around Chestermere, and after that, he went back to Langdon."
Somebody saw him at a store and told an RCMP officer who was in the area and showed them that it was stolen.
"He went and chased the guy for a short bit, but the driver was driving recklessly, and it was just too dangerous to keep the pursuit up, so he ended up having to stop chasing the car."
According to Mai, the vehicle has been seen all over the Calgary area, including close to Airdrie.
Gloria Bosse, the mother of Josh posted about the car in a few Airdrie Facebook groups and Airdronians have been doing what they can to keep an eye out for the specialized car.
"I moved here last fall from Calgary, It's a sense of a small town feel with a very big sense of community with all the people in Airdrie, especially the support that we have received on the posts."
Mai went on to talk about what makes the vehicle special to him, his family and his neighbourhood.
"I bought the car from a customer at a shop that I worked at and we redid everything in the vehicle. I decided to do the paint job in a unique colour scheme that represented autism awareness. The main icon of autism is a puzzle piece with different coloured pieces to the puzzle. So, my car is kind of like a puzzle.
Mai felt the need to bring awareness to autism as two of his kids have it, so it is important to him.
"It's not just me they took that car from, it's my kids, It's also the kids in the neighbourhood who point it out to their parents every time they go past it."
He still has hope that one day, he will wake up, look out his window, and the car will be sitting where it usually does on the road.
"If they could do me any favour, it would be to just come back here one night, drop the car off and leave. If they did it in the middle of the night, I wouldn't even know."
Calgary Police Services did confirm that they are continuing to look for the car, if anybody has any tips on where it can be, please reach out to them.
