Stefan Daniel will rest a little easier in the off-season after winning his sixth para triathlon world championship.

Daniel, 27, wasn't about to miss this opportunity for a little redemption from the bike crash that saw him miss the podium at the Paris Paralympics six weeks ago. On Oct. 18, he won the men's standing classification with a time of 59:26 at worlds in Torremolinos, Spain.

“Today I just felt a sense of relief when I crossed the finish line," he told Triathlon Canada.  "This will make the off-season so much sweeter,” added Daniel. “It was redemption.”

The Calgary athlete with ties to Cochrane completed the sprint-distance test with a winning time of 59:26 to win the men’s standing classification.

Australia’s Jack Howell was second at 1:00:14 and Portugal’s Filipe Marques took the bronze with a time of 1:00:43.
