Last night (Oct. 18) marked the third game in four nights for the Okotoks Oilers and they came away with a 6-2 victory over the BCHL top-seeded Coastal Conference Coquitlam Exrpess in their final road game of the week.
Olivier Ciarlo started in net for the Green and Gold, making 29 saves in the contest. He added his third win of the season and has won two of three games since getting his new Oiler-coloured gear.
Jamie Hikida opened the scoring 12:44 into the first period with Rylan Oster and Bowen Burke getting the helpers. Thomas Zocco for the Express tied things up at 1-1 just five minutes later.
Okotoks and Coquitlam would trade goals early in the second period with Michael Kowalski getting his second goal of the season and then Sebastian Bradshaw for the Express tied things up 28 seconds later. Joey Meredith and Luke Calabria got the assists on the Kowalski goal, all three are American-born players.
Otto Hanson grabbed his fourth goal of the season to give the Oilers their third lead in the hockey game. Calabria picked up his second point on the night with the assist.
The third period was all Oilers with Meredith scoring the fourth Oilers goal on a beautiful deke. He cut in front of the net, outwaited Mitchell Pierce (Express netminder), and tucked it home on the backhand. Kowalski got the assist for his second point on the night.
