Are you in the Halloween spirit? "The Fixes' Not-so-Spooky Haunted House" is back for another year, with this year's theme being "Out of This World."
This year again, going through the haunted house will be free, Clifford and Tanya Fix the creators and owners of the event are asking residents to donate funds or food that will be given to the Airdrie Food Bank.
The haunted house at 107 Canoe Crescent SW has been open for a few nights already. It is closed today, but it will be open tomorrow all the way through Halloween from 5:30 (4:30 p.m. start on Halloween) to 9:00 p.m. each night.
Tanya explained the haunted house is for all age groups to enjoy.
"There's no blood, no gore, no jumpouts. It's just a few animatronics. It's really about having fun doing something good for the community."
Last year, when they held their haunted house, they were able to fundraise $917 and 1040 pounds of groceries for the food bank. 2002 people attended as well.
"We like the challenge of the creativity, of not being too spooky for the little kids so they are not as scared. If you look closely, you will even see a little bit of adult humour as well."
Being the fourth haunted house they have done, they are excited to see how many people will attend this year and if it will continue to grow in popularity for Airdrie residents.
"It doesn't matter if you can afford a darn thing or not come and have just a little bit of community spirit, maybe that'll help perk you up."
Tanya also wanted to thank everybody who helped sponsor the haunted house and made it possible. The Fixes' are already thinking about next year's theme and how they could make it even bigger and better.
This year they are also doing a "Christmas I Spy Event" walkthrough, it will be the third time they are holding the event. Last year, it raised $1,113.25 and 680 pounds of food.
