The Southern Plains Co-op is set to deliver chills and thrills at their annual Trail of Terror event, taking place Friday, October 25, at Woodlawn Regional Park. A community favourite, this free family event will feature fun for everyone.

"Halloween’s mine," shared Brooke Spagrud, marketing manager for Southern Plains Co-op, when asked about her enthusiasm for the season. "Everyone has their favourite holiday, but Halloween is my Christmas." Spagrud and her team have been hard at work, ensuring this year's event will be more exciting than ever.

The Trail of Terror will be divided into segments to accommodate different audiences. From 4 to 5, families with sensory-sensitive or mobility-limited members can enjoy a quieter, calmer walk through the decorated trails. The event continues with a less intense version of the trail from 5 to 6 for younger families before shutting down temporarily. Finally, from 6:30 to 8:30, the Trail of Terror truly comes to life. “That’s where things go bump in the night,” said Spagrud. “We have some really amazing new and exciting things lined up for everybody this year that I am really, really excited about!”

In addition to the spooky walk, families can enjoy a variety of activities in the kids' area, along with food and drinks. "We’re going to have hot dogs. The kids areas have got some really great kids games lined up again this year. And then of course, we’re going to have the Trail of Terror."

The Southern Plains Co-op team has been working hard behind the scenes to bring this event to life. "So we’ve been planning this since the end of August," Spagrud said. "I have to give a huge shout-out to our Southern Plains Co-op team because we put this on all by ourselves. Hours and hours go into bringing out the decorations, making sure the lights and the batteries and everything work... It’s a whole team effort."

The event is free to attend and open to the entire community. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly and get ready for an unforgettable Halloween experience.
