17-year-old charged in machete attack outside Winnipeg school

A 17-year-old female is facing charges following an assault outside a school in the 100 block of St. Mary's Road. 

At approximately 11 a.m. on Oct. 16, a physical fight broke out between a group of teens off school property when one teen pulled out a machete and struck the other two. The victims, both males aged 15 and 18, received minor injuries due to the protection of their clothing and backpack. They did not require medical attention. 

Staff from the school intervened and stopped the fight as police were contacted. 

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. 

A 17-year-old female has been taken into custody and is facing charges. She was released on an undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
