Originally from Winnipeg, Heather Rosen has had quite a career in songwriting and singing. Now living in L.A. with her family, she is giving all her talents to God.
Rosen was born and raised in Winnipeg, Man. and attended Miles Mac Collegiate. While she grew up going to church, Rosen had never understood the good news of Jesus and what His death and resurrection meant in her life personally. At the age of 16, she officially left the Christian faith and anything to do with it.
"I had a great childhood in Winnipeg and I always sang around the city at the clubs, the bars, the competition, and Rainbow Stage," says Rosen. "After high school, I started recording my original music. Two respected contacts of mine in the music business separately told me that I should be moving to Nashville, so I did."
During her four years in Nashville, on top of learning to write songs professionally, Rosen also searched for God in many ways. Some of these included researching New Age or trying drugs. In that time, she also relocated to Los Angeles, CA.
"This went on for like a good 15 years. Fast forward to when I was dating my now husband. We were at an all-time low and we were on the verge of breaking up. I was heartbroken with my whole life."
It was at this point that Rosen found a man who she now calls her spiritual father and started attending Revelation Church in L.A.
"What I saw inside of this man was something I had never encountered before. I remember sitting there listening to him, thinking, wow, if Jesus is real, then I think I just met him in this man. When I walked into this church, I felt like I was home. Everyone was shining from within in this way that I had never seen, and all of it was genuine. I encountered God in this church, and it very quickly flipped my life upside down."
At this point, Rosen was solely focused on song writing rather than singing. But God had a different plan.
"I was very quickly called into worship. Immediately basically. God gave me no time to adjust and He said, 'You're not only going to sing worship, you're going to lead.' I was so unqualified, but it's just another way for me to lean into and rely on Him. And He really taught me."
On Sept. 14, Rosen released her first single as a Christian artist called "Better Rain." You can listen to the single below as Rosen performed it live in the CHVN studio.
Her first album, Late Bloomer, will be released in 2025.
