Q: Tell us about yourself and why you decided to run in the Wood River Constituency?
A: I've done two turns on town council [in Vanguard].
I just don't like seeing what's going on with our healthcare. Gravelbourg's roof still leaks in the longterm care, and the hospital there in Gravelbourg.
They just found out that Lafleche had to buy a whole bunch of room air conditioners because their air conditioning doesn't work. I just don't like the overspending and not taking care of our people that live here in Saskatchewan.
Q: What do you feel are some of the pressing issues in this election?
A: You just can't throw money and think that's going to fix everything. You’ve got to look at what's going on.
If you're just going to throw money and you don't know that there's a roof leaking in Gravelbourg - yet the NDP think they know what's going on in healthcare. That's why I'm running.
To me, if you're running, you need to know what's going on in your consistency. If you're not doing that, then you're not doing your job. If you're the opposition, and you don't know what's going on in the province, you're not doing your job. And that's why I'm running - I don't think they're doing their job. If you’ve got two parties that keep on getting in and no other opposition, they don't have to do their job.
Q: What’s your stance when it comes to the housing situation in the province?
A: We've got to get things more affordable for people, and if you keep on putting PST on building materials, that just increases house prices. That will not go down until you take that off of the housing.
Q: What are your thoughts on policing and public safety?
A: I've been talking to the RCMP, and they just say that they need just more officers.
I agree with them. I mean, we need more officers, and you can’t have somebody related to somebody in office and think that they’re not going to be non-biased to the people that are in caucus. Our police force should be independent. It should not be run by the government.
Q: How would a Progressive Conservative Government improve the economy?
A: Let's get rid of a whole bunch of red tape. Less government and put more money into people's pockets. We have to stop taxing our small businesses and make it easier for them to survive in the economy.
