Excitement is building for a divisional football championship game being hosted by the Cochrane Cobras.

Kick-off is this Saturday (Oct. 26) at 1 p.m. following some tailgating in support of the storied team.

For those unable to attend, the game is being broadcast on Telus Optic TV, channel 1985.

For the Cochrane Cobras, it's a shot at reclaiming the Rocky View divisional championship that has alluded them for the past two seasons. Their opponents, the George McDougall Mustangs are in the hunt for a three-peat.

The Cobras destroyed the Bert Church Chargers 41-0 in the semifinals. It was a little redemption for the Cobras, who lost their only game of the season to the Chargers.

It was a breakout game for the offense, led by grade 10 quarterback Joe Stevenson. He completed 15 of 22 passes for 237 yards and threw for four touchdowns. Tyler Clazie was 2 for 2 for eight yards. The team gained 105 yards on the ground and had 245 yds in receiving

The Mustangs, who had only one loss on the season to the Cobras, a 9-6 defensive battle, beat the W. H. Croxford Cavaliers, 16-9, in the other divisional semifinal.

On Friday (Oct. 25) at 5 p.m., the Bow Valley Bobcats are hosting the Chestermere Lakers in the 'B' consolation round. They lost to the Springbank Phoenix in their first consolation game, 33-17, on Oct. 19. The Bobcats lone win of the season was a 25-3 win over the Lakers. Despite this, the team showed strong signs of improvement on the season,
