North Portal duo Last Birds have had a busy fall, performing across Western Canada and Ontario as part of their October Moon Tour. Fresh off performances at two major showcase events—BreakOut West in Saskatoon and Folk Music Ontario in Mississauga—the band is now preparing for a special concert this Saturday, October 26, at the MacMurray Theatre in Arcola.
Speaking on the SUN 102 Morning Show, Lindsay Arnold shared how exciting it was to be part of these music showcases. "It’s really fun to go to these showcase events because you get to be amongst a bunch of other really talented musicians, and you have a chance to play for music industry folk. We just had a really great time," Arnold said.
Following their performances in Saskatchewan and Ontario, Last Birds made their debut in Alberta, where they played shows in Red Deer and Calgary. Reflecting on her time in Red Deer, Arnold highlighted a personal moment: "We started in Red Deer and it was this great little place called the Velvet Olive. I got to see my childhood best friend there, so that was just an extra bonus."
The duo’s final concert of the tour will be a standout performance at the MacMurray Theatre in Arcola. Arnold expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming show, noting how the venue holds a special place for the band. "It’s a beautiful theatre that they’ve fixed up and renovated. I just loved being there. We had a chance to play there before as an opener," she shared.
The concert will also be recorded by Bamboo Shoots for SaskTel maxTV Local on Demand, allowing the audience to be part of something truly unique. "At a later date, people will be able to watch the show on SaskTel Max," Arnold added. "We need an audience, so please get tickets. We’re charging for tickets because we’re starting our next album cycle and need to raise funds to record the next album. We also have some future touring plans, including the UK."
Doors for the event will open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m. The MacMurray Theatre will have its concession stand open for refreshments.
