I was back at my alma mater this week, Central Collegiate Institute in Moose Jaw, 41 years after graduation.
It was a pleasure to see the youthful exuberance and to make some new friends.
I spoke to grades 11 and 12 students who are taking the "Media & Communications" class, at the request of the teacher.
I told the kids about my career which actually started at that high school, writing a monthly school news column that was published in the local newspaper.
I encouraged the students to stay focused on language arts if they are seriously thinking about a career in media and we talked about the ever-changing landscape that is media these days, from newspapers and websites to radio and television and social media, where a growing number of people are entertaining and influencing others around the world.
I think some of the young students came away from class feeling encouraged about their future.
I know I did and I'll tell you why.
When I asked the kids to raise their hands if they listen to the radio on a regular basis, most of them did.
Perhaps some of those kids will be entertaining you on this radio station in the not too distant future.
