The next Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) payment will not appear in Airdrie residents' bank accounts until January 2025. Still, a family of four will see $450 on their rebate check, signifying no change between this year and the first payment of 2025.
For a family of four living in Alberta, the total CCR amount will be up to $1,800 over the year. According to the federal government, the CCR is designed to help offset the costs of carbon pricing that the federal government implements in provinces without their carbon pricing systems meeting federal standards. In provinces like Alberta, where the federal fuel charge is applied, these rebates return all proceeds directly to residents.
While Airdrie residents are not eligible for the rural top-up, rural families in other eligible communities will benefit from it.
To qualify for the CCR, residents must file their annual tax returns. For those who are registered for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the payments will be conveniently deposited directly into their bank accounts every three months.
Alternatively, those not using direct deposit will receive their payments via cheque. It’s important to note that for households with spouses or common-law partners, the individual who files the tax return first will receive the CCR amount for all household members, including children.
What other benefit payment dates all left for 2024?
There are only handful of benefit payment dates for eligible families this year, this includes the Canada child benefit (CCB) on November 20 and then on December 13, as well as the Alberta child and family benefit (ACFB) due on November 27.
