For the past 25 years, Cochrane’s own Mark Haynes and his family has transformed their home into a spooky haunted experience, and this year will be no different.
His home in Heritage Hills is now set with numerous ghosts, goblins and clowns making way for a special Halloween preview this Sunday.
“This last two weeks, my wife and my son and I have been working diligently to get it together,” says Haynes.
“We've expanded this year, I have our coffin, two 12-foot mummies, I got 15 zombie babies. I don't want to give too much away because there's some pretty cool stuff back this year.”
For the first time ever, he says the experience isn’t just for October 31st.
“We're going to be open from this coming Sunday (Oct 27) night right through to Halloween. Each night we'll be out there, we'll have live actor jump scares. So you have to let us know when you come if you don't want that and I'll send a message out back and it won't happen.
“We're asking people to bring a donation to the food bank this year so that we can take that down to the Cochrane Food Bank when we're done.”
Haynes had over 380 visitors last year and has put thousands of dollars into the display, but in the end, he says it’s all worth it.
“I love Halloween. I think Halloween has to be something that can still be enjoyed and people can use their imaginations and kids can go and have fun and be still children”
“If you can bring that joy to kids and let them have fun, why not?“
