The Weyburn Concert Series kicked off its season earlier this month with an exciting performance by Canadian country star George Canyon.
"We had a really good attendance, and people absolutely loved our kickoff to the season," said Linda Aitken, a volunteer with the Weyburn Concert Series.
Music uniquely brings people together, and Aitken believes this season will be no different.
"Music speaks to all of us. No matter how old we are or whatever, it doesn't matter what colour we are, music talks to all of us in its own way," she shared.
The Concert Series is still ongoing, with five more shows.
"We have a series of six this year," Aitken explained, highlighting the next show on Thursday, October 24th, at the Cugnet Centre, featuring The Wardens. The group, comprised of national park game wardens, brings a unique experience to the stage with storytelling and music rooted in their day jobs.
"They've done albums, have incredible harmony, and talk about their jobs in national parks. The performance will also include a stunning slide presentation, enhancing their tales of life as Wardens."
Though The Wardens may have a different widespread recognition than George Canyon, Aitken is confident they will be a hit.
"Their harmony is absolutely beautiful, crazy good. A lot of times, the audience will find themselves tapping their knee or grooving to the music."
For those interested in attending, tickets are available at Old Fashioned Foods on Main Street and the Weyburn Review office
Looking ahead, the next show will feature Prairie Sons, a classical duo performing at the Cugnet Centre on November 27th. After a short hiatus, the series will return in February, continuing through to May.
As for this Thursday's show, Aitken said it's one the commuinity is sure to enjoy.
"Just come on out. It's wonderful entertainment, the quality live performance right here in our community."
