Cochrane hockey player Kadon McCann has been named to the NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary players to watch list ahead of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

The 17-year-old centre is listed as a C-rated players who is so far projected as fourth or fifth-round pick in the NHL draft next June. 

The 6'3" 200 lb. centre is in his second full season with the Medicine Hat Tigers and one of two players being watched from the WHL team. He played 68 regular season and five playoff games with the Tigers last season and is 10 games into the current one.

McCann cut his teeth with Cochrane Minor Hockey with the Bow Valley 'AA" Timberwolves. He played with the U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme before joining the RINK Hockey Academy in Kelowna, B.C. He was a member of Alberta's 2023 Canada Winter Games team and won the WHL Cup as a member of Team Black in 2022.

In all, 55 WHL players are on the preliminary list that's a compilation of draft-eligible prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe. It will be updated throughout the season as scouts evaluate players.
