A 29-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man are facing child abuse charges after their daughter was brought to the hospital unresponsive and suffering from multiple injuries.
Winnipeg police say in September 2024, hospital officials alerted them of an infant that had been brought into the emergency room with suspicious injuries.
The Child Abuse Unit took over the investigation and determined the injuries to be a result of malnutrition and abuse.
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, Winnipeg police arrested the pair, charging the 29-year-old female with a charge of failing to provide necessities of life. The 33-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated assault and failing to provide necessities of life.
Both remain in custody.
