The City of Winnipeg has officially started its search for a new Chief Administrative Officer.

On Wednesday, the city announced it issued a Request for Proposals to hire a consultant to assist in the search process.

Earlier this year the city also announced a CAO Hiring Committee, consisting of members from council, who will oversee the recruitment process. They include Mayor Scott Gillingham, Councillor Janice Lukes (Waverley West), Councillor Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan), Councillor Ross Eadie (Mynarski) and Councillor Devi Sharma (Old Kildonan).

"We’re looking for a CAO who will foster a ‘Yes First’ service culture, push for innovative solutions to problems, and build strong partnerships with other governments, the business community, and the non-profit sector," said Mayor Scott Gillingham. "Above all, we need someone who can lead a high-performing team and help us deliver better service to Winnipeggers."

The consultant hired through the RFP will work with the CAO Hiring Committee to conduct an extensive, professional search process to identify and attract the best candidate for the role.  Their insights will help identify the qualities and expertise needed for an effective CAO and will inform the Selection Committee’s decision-making process.

The City of Winnipeg will release more details as the hiring process continues.
