BRICKERY: A Gallery of LEGO Creations returns to the Estevan Leisure Centre this weekend, showcasing an impressive array of LEGO masterpieces built by members of the Saskatchewan LEGO Users Group (S.L.U.G.). Now in its seventh year, the event promises to deliver fun for LEGO enthusiasts of all ages.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 26, at the Senior Centre, just down the hall from the Estevan Public Library. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the gallery is free for all to attend.
One of the highlights of the show is the annual S.L.U.G. craft challenge, where visitors get to vote on their favourite build. "This year the theme of the challenge is I heart blank," said Jillian Ursu, one of the event organizers. "It’s up to interpretation as to what the builder wants to create for that."
The creations featured in the challenge will be displayed on a 32 by 32 base plate, with no height restrictions. Builders compete for the coveted LEGO trophy, awarded to the fan-favourite creation.
For those interested in joining S.L.U.G., Ursu explained, "You have to be 18 plus because it is adult fans of LEGO who are part of the club. Just talk to one of the people there, and we’ll get you on the path to joining."
BRICKERY offers a perfect opportunity to marvel at the creativity and craftsmanship of local LEGO builders, with Ursu's own contributions focusing on nature-themed builds, including a striking depiction of a forest fire.
