The Highwood Mustangs had two Volleyball games over the week with the JV Girls playing on Monday (Oct. 21) and the SV Boys on Tuesday (Oct. 22).
The Mustangs JV Girls played against the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS). Highwood would take the first set 25-22 even after STS made a close set, scoring eight points near the end of the set.
The second set went to Strathcona with a 25-15 score. STS took an early 7-2 lead, but Highwood stormed back to make it a tie 10-10 score in the set and even took the lead 12-11. Strathcona stormed back with 14 points to Highwoods three to take the second set.
The third set was a battle between both teams as they were tied at 21 apiece. STS came away with the victory in the third set, taking it 25-23.
STS gave Highwood a battle again in the fourth and final set leading by six points for most of the play. Highwood fell 25-17 to STS as the game finished in a 3-1 win for Strathcona after the final set.
The Mustangs SV Boys were in action against Edison a day after the JV Girls played. The SV Boys started the first set tied at 4-4, but Edison would start to bring the heat and take a 22-15 lead in the first set. Highwood started a comeback but fell just short in the first set with a 25-20 set score.
Highwood made things interesting in the second set with a tie of 16-16. Edison found a way to get back into the set taking it 25-20.
The Mustangs finally took a set in the third with a final score of 25-20. The set was tied at 19-19 during play with Highwood then taking over to finish the set on top.
The fourth and final set went to Edison as they held a five-point lead for most of it and then finished off the 3-1 set win with a 25-13 score in the final set.
