A woman in her 20s has been upgraded to stable condition after reports of being assaulted early Thursday morning.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 24, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a disturbance and possible assault in an apartment suite in the first one hundred block of Balmoral Street.
A wellness check was conducted at the suite of interest where a female in her 20s covertly asked for help.
Four individuals were taken into custody after the female indicated she had been assaulted by the other occupants. The victim was taken to hospital for injuries to her head and upper body before being upgraded to stable condition.
Four individuals, three in their 30s and one in their 20s have been charged with kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a weapon. They remain in custody.
The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and determined the victim and four suspects knew each other prior to the reported assault.
The victim was confronted about a previous issue and was forced back to the suite where she was reportedly assaulted, robbed, and held captive. She did manage to escape but was then dragged back to the suite when a witness called the police.
