The Airdrie United Church will be officially closing its Airdrie doors in November.
According to Lori Helston, Chair of the Official Board of Airdrie United Church, the final service will be held on November 17.
"It will be an opportunity to celebrate with our faith community the life and legacy of this long-time home."
Even though the last service is scheduled for November, they plan to continue serving the area for many more years, just elsewhere.
"Our current building is no longer sustainable to serve the fast-growing city of Airdrie. We have worked long and hard to look at options to stay in the community. Along the way, we had to make the difficult decision to sell the property to explore making new roots in this city more sustainably."
Helston also shared they are looking forward to this exciting and hope-filled next chapter as they discern how best to serve the community of Airdrie.
"Airdrie United will temporarily be worshipping at the Balzac United Church, and our church staff will have offices in Airdrie."
The Airdrie United Church has been a part of Airdrie for more than 100 years.
"Airdrie United Church is a church on the move to serve this changing community in new ways. We invite anyone interested to come and join us as we build the next generation of Airdrie United Church."
