Councillor for the Rural Municipality of Swift Current, Rick Kehler, has announced that he's running for the position of Reeve this year.
Kehler has lived in the Rural Municipality for his entire life and has served as a councillor for the past 12 years.
The Wymark resident is hoping to bring years of experience, a team-oriented approach, and an open line of communication to the table if elected.
Kehler noted that he's been on multiple committees and spent nearly three decades buying grain, giving him in-depth experience in agriculture, leadership, and rural life and infrastructure.
"I think the biggest thing is that we work together as a council, that's number one," he said. "I think we have to just work together, be open, listen to people, and be willing to talk."
Kehler highlighted that it took him this long to decide to step up for the position because there's a lot to learn and he felt that he could gain more experience before being best fit to serve as Reeve.
"I encourage the people to come out and vote and if anyone wants to phone me they're definitely welcome to phone and talk to me," he added.
