William "Billy" Bowman Ingram
February 27, 1952 – October 24, 2024

William (Billy) Bowman Ingram, 73, of Quill Lake, SK passed away on October 24, 2024 of cancer. Billy was born to William Bowman North Ingram and Mary Ann Stewart (Marshall) Ingram on February 27, 1952. William was the 8th of 14 children and grew up on a farm at Twin Creek. He completed his schooling at Twin Creek and Quill Lake schools, with a short stint at St. Peter’s College for  grade 11. After finishing grade 12 he took a welding course and worked in Edmonton and the Baffin Islands before returning home to farm with his brothers, Jimmy and Tommy.

Billy and Beverly (Gilbertson) started dating in the fall of 1975.  After a whirlwind romance they were married on July 10, 1976. They lived in a trailer at the Twin Creek school yard until buying Holt’s in 1980. After moving to Holt’s, Billy began his seed cleaning and certified seed grain farm. Billy and Bev continued to grow their farm, starting a potato growing operation in 1990.  In 2009, they moved to Humboldt where they built and sold two homes before building their home in Quill Lake. During this time, their family expanded to include 12 grandchildren, many of whom he taught to drive.

When Billy wasn’t busy farming he enjoyed summer fishing trips to Jan Lake, an annual tradition that has expanded to include many of his brothers and sisters and their families. During the winters, he spent many hours welding inventions for the farm – anything from flowerboxes to a circular staircase for the grain bins (mainly from salvaged materials).

Billy was active in the community, serving on the C&D and contributing to the Catholic Church. He and Bev were passionate about the community’s need for a daycare, finally purchasing and donating land to ensure it was built close to the school.

Billy is survived by: loving wife Beverly, children and grandchildren Laura (Kurt) and their son Sam, Adam (Kalli) and their children Ruby, Ross, and  Eli, Rachel (Shawn) and their children Rayna, Alana, Owen, and Michael, Amanda (Jason) and their children Jayna, Sarah, Nathan, and Rylen; siblings Jean (Harold), Elizabeth, James (Jeanne), Glenys, Linda, Lana, Leanne (Alan), Thomas (Debbie), Rosanne, Jane (Ed), and Susan (Ed); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was predeceased by: his parents William and May Ann Ingram; sisters Mary Ann and Isabel; brothers-in-law Victor, Alex, George, Leslie and Donald; niece Jennifer; great-nephew Colt and parents-in-law Richard and Darlene Gilbertson.

A Funeral Mass for Billy was held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from Quill Lake Community Hall, celebrated by Fr. Francis Akomeah. Interment followed at Quill Lake Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Billy can be directed to Little Goslings Childcare Centre Cooperative or Quill Lake Cemetery Fund.
