Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect following an alleged assault that took place early Friday morning at the University of Manitoba. 

At approximately 4:45 a.m., on Oct. 25, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of break, enter, and assault in a student housing complex on Dafoe Road. 

An adult female met with police after reporting that an intruder entered her room and physically assaulted her. She was able to fight off the suspect before calling for help. Both the police and University Security Services were informed. The female sustained injuries which she was treated for and is in stable condition. 

The WPS Sex Crimes Unit has taken over this investigation.

The description of the suspect is:

  • 5’10”- 6” in height
  • Unkempt facial hair, long unkempt hair
  • Wearing a black toque
  • Black jacket with grey hooded sweater underneath
  • Possibly blue jeans, black shoes
  • Black and blue backpack
