A former law enforcement officer has thrown his name in the hat to run for the position of Mayor of the Town of Shaunavon.
Drew Grainger is keen to bring over three decades of public service experience, a willingness to lead, and a collaborative mindset to the table.
Grainger served as an RCMP for 32 years before purchasing a house in Shaunavon in 2021 to renovate over the year, making the move from Vancouver with his wife in 2022.
"I just believe that what our town needs in this period of transition is a strong leader, a communicator who has empathy, and a natural ability to work in a constructive team setting to bring stability, trust, and accountability to the citizens of Shaunavon," he explained. "I think I'm that person and I have a proven track record of public service excellence for over three decades.
"My wife and I love being citizens in Shaunavon and we both want to do more to make Shaunavon the great place that it is to live, work, have a business, and raise a family."
Grainger noted that he is passionate about serving the public and keeping the community safe and sustainable.
"If elected, I'd be excited to get to work with the council, my fellow elected members, to take Shaunavon to the next level and become an example of a well-governed municipality, serving not only Shaunavon, but the southwest region," he concluded.
