Three youths face firearm-related charges after a man in his 70s was shot early Monday morning.

At approximately midnight on Oct. 28, General Patrol officers from the Central District with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team responded to the report of a male shot Downtown in the area of Hargrave Street and Portage Avenue. 

Officers provided the victim with emergency medical care after he had sustained a gunshot wound in his head. He was then transported to hospital in unstable condition where he was later upgraded to stable condition. The firearm used was a BB gun.

According to the victim, he was leaving a restaurant and walking along Hargrave Street when he was shot out of nowhere. The three youth suspects fled the area. 

Witnesses gave a description of the suspects to police. Two males aged 12 and 14, and a 13-year-old female were located and taken into custody, where they remain. 

The investigation was turned over to the Major Crimes Unit. Investigators believe the suspects were randomly shooting the firearm and there are additional victims who have not yet been identified.
