A dog is dead and a man has been taken to hospital in critical condition following a house fire Monday afternoon.
At approximately 12:51 p.m. on Oct. 28, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a multi-family building in the 500 block of Marion Street.
There was heavy smoke coming from the building when crews arrived. Firefighters located one person and helped them evacuate from the building. The individual was treated and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
All of the other occupants were able to safely self-evacuate prior to the crew's arrival.
One dog was located deceased in the building. The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency responded to provide care for the dog.
The blaze was declared under control at 1:17 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
