With snowflakes threatening to fall soon, there are ways to help keep streets clear.

The Town of Diamond Valley has recently taken to Facebook to provide tips residents could follow to help crews clear streets in town, while staying safe.

As part of the winter preparations, the Town is asking people to remove any wood and metal driveway curb ramps, basketball hoops, skateboard and bike ramps, and any other similar item.

In fact, those items must be removed from the street from November 1 to April 30 under their Traffic Bylaw.

While this doesn't seem like a big deal, or much of an effort to the residents, it helps the snowplow crews to properly do their jobs without causing damage to both the resident's property and the snow removal equipment.

Once the snow does fall, the Town requires sidewalks in front of and adjacent to private property to be cleared of snow within 24 hours of the snowfall happening.

But the Town is asking residents to not place the snow into the street or public property, which also includes cul-de-sacs.

They are also asking for waste carts to be removed from the street each day.
