While the "final score" may change in the coming days as mail-in ballots and votes from hospitals and remand centres are counted, we know the Saskatchewan Party has been returned to government in our province.
The opposition will have a much stronger voice in the Legislative Assembly as the NDP doubled their representation from 13 to 26 elected members.
Premier-elect Scott Moe made it clear last night that he knows a message was sent and he heard it loud and clear. In fact, he said he heard it on the doorstep during the campaign.
"Your expectations of a government is of a government that will do better when it comes to accessing healthcare services...to have a government that will do better in supporting our children in their education, a government that will do better in representing you" and, he said, "We're going to do just that."
You know, we've only made one change in government in the last 33 years. That was in 2007 when we replaced the NDP with the Saskatchewan Party. The word "change" was used a lot in the NDP election campaign.
We didn't change governing political parties this time around but it seems to me that you elected enough NDP MLAs to make a difference and, perhaps, bring about the improvements we'd all like to see.
