Three organizations that are a big help to Airdronians have just received a significant donation, to further the work they do in the community.

Airdrie Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank and the North Rockyview Community Links Society each received $5,500 in donations from Propak, a local employer in the energy industry.

Sean Corcoran a purchasing manager with Propak Systems shared that in total they were able to donate $16,500. Funds raised from a charity golf tournament they do every year, to give back to the community,

We always have three charities, the Airdrie Food Bank and Community Links are always one, then we rotate the third, so this year it's Meals On Wheels."

Corcoran added that as a company, it's important for Propak to give back to the community,

"As a company, I think it's important to give back to those that help our community, especially with the cost of everything."

Lori McRitchie with the Airdrie Food Bank is thankful for donations like this, especially with their busy season just around the corner.

"The need at the food bank is unprecedented, hunger count numbers came out yesterday, and we're having trouble keeping up with the need in our community. This [donation} is going to go towards purchasing the food items that we need to make sure that everybody has a good holiday season."

Lois Jones with Wheels on Wheels also explained that heading into Christmas, this donation with help them a great deal.

"With the cold weather and cold temperatures, lots of our clients are seasonal. They come back on board when the temperatures drop and the roads get icy. So this will help us keep up with demand."
