One of Okotoks' high schools is going to be the backdrop in a Netflix show.

Holy Trinity Academy (HTA) will be featured in the second season of My Life with the Walter Boys.

According to one of the Vice Principals at Holy Trinity Academy, Michael Annicchiarico, says the show was filming at HTA on Monday and Tuesday of this week as part of the show's last two episodes of the second season.

"I think the show takes place in Colorado, so that's why we have the Colorado state flag up, as well as the American flag," Annicchiarico explains. "They are shooting a scene, it was described to me as a football game scene that also involved cheerleaders, marching band. I think part of the scene is a school bus comes and the football players get off of that. So, they're more or less just using our field for this football game that'll be part of their show."

Annicchiarico adds that HTA is acting as the rival school to the main characters in the show.

While this is the first time the show has been filmed at HTA, they have also filmed in Chestermere and other locations across Southern Alberta.

"My understanding is they've done a lot of shooting at Chestermere High School. That's kind of been their home base for a lot of their shots, but they've also been filming around Southern Alberta. And they were driving around the area, looking for another high school that could host this football game. Something about our school and the layout of our field just appealed to them for what they were envisioning for their episode," Annicchiarico says.

While they will be filming at the high school, they won't be filming inside of the school.

Even though the football field is being used by Hollywood stars, the HTA football team won't be missing out on any practices this week.

Annicchiarico says their team is gearing up for playoffs, and under Alberta Schools Athletic Association, playoff games are done on turf fields.

"Our football team has already been in the process of booking out a turf field," Annicchiarico says. "They were already planning on practicing on a turf field for the week, so even though they are using our field, practices would be done in the city anyways."

Annicchiarico adds that he hopes the episodes go well and that everyone gets a chance to see Okotoks in My Life with the Walter Boys.
