Nice Horse's performance of the Canadian national anthem at the Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills game on Sunday was one to remember.

Katie Rox, one of the band's lead singers, was born and raised in Airdrie and talked about why they got to sing in front of the large crowd.

"They do a Canadian Appreciation Day. From what I understand, the Seahawks and the Buffalo Bills have a lot of Canadian fans, so they take a minute to celebrate Canada, which I think is awesome."

She mentioned that about 70,000 fans were in attendance, so it was one of their largest performances ever.

"It's such an honour to be asked and trusted to do something like that, and to represent our country and to get more and more people to know who we are, it's an interesting way to go about doing it."

Rox explained performing the national anthem is very hard to start with, let alone 70,000 people watching.

"You're incredibly exposed singing acapella in front of all those people. There's a crazy delay coming back at you, so you have to focus internally, but because we're a duo and we're singing in harmony, we also have to focus on each other. But at the same time, I can't believe I'm singing this for our country in front of all of these people."

This wasn't the first time Nice Horse has performed at a major sports game, they also performed the Canadian national anthem at the MLB All-Star game.

"It was massive, that was the first time I ever sang in front of that many people. These two performances were the most patriotic, heartwarming and terrifying moments of my life."

Also, over the summer, the duo played more main stages at festivals than they have ever before, one being Alberta Country Thunder.

"We released new music, so we got a chance to perform new music that we hadn't yet had a chance to do."

They have a few more concerts left to round out the year before a little bit of a slowdown before the new year rolls around.
