Addison Kartusch of the St. Charles Country Club and Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend are Golf Manitoba's 2024 Female & Male Amateur Golfers of the Year. Kartusch won the Match Play Championship, the Provincial Junior Championship and the Provincial Women’s Amateur Championship. The 18-year-old from Winnipeg, who is into her freshmen year at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, also finished T3 at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship and T48 at the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship. Kuntz captured the Provincial Men’s Amateur Championship and finished T3 at the Canadian Championship, the NCAA Bryan National Collegiate Championship and at the NCAA Butler University Don Benbow Invitational. He also placed T12 at the NCAA Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate Championship. The 20-year-old from Winnipeg, who is attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, is the first player in Manitoba history to win the Men’s Amateur in four consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). 


Kolten Harder and Simon Hiebert scored two goals each and the Northlands Parkway Nighthawks defeated the Miller Aces 5-3 in the lone Zone 4 High School Hockey League game Tuesday night in Winkler. Jordan Knelson also found the back of the net for the Nighthawks who scored three times on the power play. Kumera Kauenhofen had a pair of goals for the Aces. Grayden Franz had the other Miller goal. 


The Winnipeg Jets face the Red Wings in Detroit tonight. The Jets saw their season-opening eight-game win streak come to an end Monday at Canada Life Centre with a 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. 


The Professional Women's Hockey League is looking to expand. League executive Amy Scheer says the PWHL will soon begin sending requests for proposals and will also be accepting applications. Quebec City and Calgary could be Canadian options. Detroit and Pittsburgh are among the potential candidates in the United States.


Brad Gushue has a 5-0 record and has qualified for the playoffs at the Pan Continental Curling Championships in Lacombe, Alberta. Gushue defeated Team John Shuster of the United States 7-5 and Japan's Team Shinya Abe 7-5. Rachel Homan downed New Zealand’s Team Chelsea Suddens 9-2 and has a 4-0 record.
