The Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre (CPCC) is preparing for its largest annual fundraiser, featuring its popular cake auction, local entertainment, and inspiring client stories.
The local non-profit is celebrating 31 years of hope and support in our community.
Susan Campbell, executive director says the money raised from this event goes to helping them support and educate people who experience unplanned or unexpected pregnancy and related issues.
"We're here for people who walk in with an unexpected pregnancy and we meet with them, slow them down a bit and get them to look at all of the circumstances. Whether it is parenting, adoption or abortion, we educate on all three options."
The centre provides clients accurate information on all options. Campbell stresses that it is not a medical facility and they do not provide or assist in arranging abortions.
The CPCC offers over 200 courses for their clients.
One of the highlights of the evening is the much anticipated cake auction.
There's approximately nine or ten donated cakes up for grabs as part of the cake auction says Campbell.
"Our emcees will be auctioning off those cakes, they buy them and that is their dessert. It can get quite competitive because people want the same cake and that but they are amazing cakes and so delicious. It is a really fun part of the evening."
There will also be a silent auction with about 40 items on hand.
"We have two local artists, one is a harpist who is going to be playing her music through supper, another one will be playing guitar, and it's all local entertainment. We will also have our information booth so if people want to learn more about us, we'll have client stories. We're also going to interview our board president so that people know what's involved in the board. And we're also going to interview a volunteer who started with us about nine or 10 months ago to see what her journey has been like."
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the CPCC and Campbell says they're hoping to raise at least $40,000.
Tickets are nearly sold out but there are still a few left.
They are $60 for an individual or $450 for a table of eight.
