The Weyburn Kin Club is set to host a unique event for puzzle enthusiasts in the community.
A Jigsaw Puzzle Tournament scheduled for November 17th. Teams of four will race against the clock to complete a 1,000-piece puzzle in four hours, with the winning team taking home the top prize.
Rebecca Olson, Treasurer of the Weyburn Kin Club, says they are trying to keep the mystery alive.
“The teams won’t know what the puzzle is until they arrive, but I can tell you that it’s a very nice winter puzzle.”
Olson emphasized that the event is designed to attract people who might not typically participate in sports-related fundraisers.
“There’s a lot of sports fundraisers out there, and this one obviously isn’t,” she noted. “It’s a nice Sunday afternoon activity to come out with a group of friends and have some fun.”
The idea for the tournament came about when members of the Kin Club, including Olson, discovered that jigsaw puzzle competitions are more common than one might think.
“I stumbled across the World Puzzle Championship on my Facebook feed,” she explained. “After doing some research, I found out that there are national and even global competitions!”
The event has limited space, with only 15 team slots available. Those interested in participating can register through the Weyburn Kin Club’s Facebook page or by emailing weyburnkinclub@gmail.com.
